Iâve spent a good portion of my life with my guard up. âThick skin in this business is necessary, and in relationships, and with family. âI think thatâs life, thatâs a big part of life,â says Mitchell. ![]() âI just discovered these! They organize your suitcase. You can go on a treadmill every day, even if itâs just for five minutes.â Mitchell is in the midst of a long round of touring, and offers a few tips for surviving on the road: Several of the songs on her current album Heart of Glass â like the title track, âDonât Love Me,â and âBulletproofâ â are, at least partly, about people hardening themselves in order to not get hurt by love. Though Slaight is most often thought of as more of an incubator than a publisher, they hired someone in Nashville to pitch her songs, and have been very supportive.
